I’ve been using this battery for approximately a year now and it has performed flawlessly. I continuously use it as an auxiliary battery in my Subaru, charged off the alternator with a 40A RedArc charger; I intermittently charge it every few days so it isn’t just trickle charging. I use the battery daily to power a dash/parking camera and auxiliary lights. I’ve used the battery from 0-95F without interruption; from frigid temperatures it does take a while for the battery to reach a safe charging temperature, but that is expected. The BMS works as it should - the only time I’ve actually experienced it was the battery cutting off after grounding a live wire with a wrench, but unplugging it and waiting about 30s reset it. I used the battery to power an electric cooler continuously for a month and it worked perfectly. I originally bought this battery because Relion was one of the few companies that sold a lithium battery with an internal heating element. I am so glad I did because it’s just totally solid and I’ve actually bought a smaller Relion battery since. I don’t know why more people don’t know about them. 10/10 recommend.

Ive been running this a red arc and for over a year, its charging perfect in 100 degree heat and now in winter in 0 degree conditions no problem. it is my aux battery on my 97 fzj 80 overland land cruiser.

While I have only tested my 2xRB100-LT batteries in the real world for one 4,000 mile trip, they have performed exactly as stated and expected, and we no longer have to worry about having enough DC power to enjoy our off grid stopovers. We can stay anywhere now and not worry about whether we'll make it to morning running our usual motorhome loads fridge, furnace, and whatever else we need for our relaxation and comfort. Pricey up front, but over the long haul, these batteries are worth every penny for our off grid power supply peace of mind, and they should be more economical than their lead acid counterparts by their charge/discharge cycle longevity. I managed to shoehorn them into the battery tray of a 2018 Navion 24V with a minor modification. I'm very pleased with this product, and would recommend them to anyone who may occasionally camp in sub-freezing weather which they handle effortlessly by design. Kudos to Relion for their product innovation.

The new batteries have relieved me of many worries. Turns out I could use two more. They just fit in a Navion 24J Sprinter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do LiFePO4 batteries perform in cold temperatures?
As with all batteries, cold temperatures will result in reduced performance. LiFePO4 batteries have significantly more capacity and voltage retention in the cold when compared to lead-acid batteries. Important tips to keep in mind: When charging lithium iron phosphate batteries below 0°C (32°F), the charge current must be reduced to 0.1C, and below -10°C (14°F) it must be reduced to 0.05C. Failure to reduce the current below-freezing temperatures can cause irreversible damage to your battery. RELiON’s LT Series is specifically designed for cold charging, utilizing charge current to heat the battery before allowing charge. With the LT series, you can start the charge below 0°C (32°F).
How does the RB100-LT (Low Temp) battery work?
The RB100-LT features the same size and performance as RELiON's RB100, but can safely charge at temperatures that drop below 0°C (32°F) using a standard charger. The system features proprietary technology which draws power from the charger itself, requiring no additional components. The entire process of heating and charging is completely seamless for the user. Simply plug the battery into the regular lithium charger and the internal heating and monitoring system takes care of the rest. Because it takes time to heat the cells, the charging process will take a little longer in below-freezing temperatures.
How can I determine the state of charge (SOC) of my lithium iron phosphate battery?
The best way to determine the SOC of your battery is to use a battery indicator— a high-precision instrument that captures instantaneous and integrated data in real-time. RELiON’s battery indicator uses a 500A shunt to accurately measure the discharge/recharge currents and calculates the Ampere-hours (Ah) flowing in and out of the battery.
Can I connect my LT batteries in series/parallel?
LT batteries may be connected in parallel only. Series connections are NOT allowed.
